What advice would you give other
mothers balancing business and family?
I am often asked how I manage running
multiple businesses while also being a
mother. The biggest thing I have learned
is that we can’t have everything perfect
all the time. Sometimes simply doing
what needs to be done is enough and
that’s okay.
I also have moments when I feel
overwhelmed, but I quickly pause and
remind myself why I’m doing this. That
reason will be different for everyone,
but once you 昀椀nd your purpose and
understand why you make certain
sacri昀椀ces, everything else starts to fall
into place and becomes more meaningful.
When you have that clarity, you wouldn’t
want to do things any other way.

What’s something you admire most
about your mum as both a mother and
a leader?
She is an incredibly driven and resilient
woman, whose life journey has played a
role in shaping the leader she is today.
What I admire most is her patience
and kindness, especially in the way she
supports me. She is always open to
listening, valuing my ideas, and creating
space for me to grow within the business.
The achievements she has accomplished
in her personal life and business are truly
inspiring. They are a testament not only
to her work ethic, but to her vision and
unwavering belief in what is possible.
What have you learned from watching
her run her business?
Not having all the answers at the
beginning is completely okay. Growth
comes from showing up each day with
a willingness to learn and improve
both professionally and personally.
In business, there will always be new
challenges, but with each one comes an
opportunity to grow.
My mum constantly reminds me
to enjoy the journey, not just the
destination, especially when stress
begins to creep in. It is a lesson
that resonates deeply, particularly
as someone who can lean towards
perfectionism at times. I feel incredibly
grateful to work alongside her; her
support and reassurance have been
invaluable, especially during more
dif昀椀cult moments.
I have observed my mother’s
humbleness and humility as a
businesswoman and carry these
traits myself. Staying humble and
connected to our purpose is what
keeps us grounded. It’s the reason
behind everything we do and why we
pour so much of ourselves into the
businesses. The connection we build
with our members is truly special and
something that continues to inspire us
every single day.
What’s one lesson/ piece of advice from
your mum that you think every woman
should hear?
As cliche as it may sound, never doubt
yourself. It is so easy to fall into the trap
of fear, negativity, and external noise.
When there is a seed of thought, you
should nurture it and allow it to grow
into something incredible. My mother
embodied this even before she opened
her 昀椀rst Fernwood club with no prior
experience in the industry. Her journey
has not been without challenges. From
arriving in Australia as a refugee with
no family and support to learning an
entirely new language, she has faced
obstacles that could have easily held
her back. If she could do it why not me,
you or anyone else?
