Here are a few tips to make your ‘welcome back to
the gym’ just a little bit easier & safer.
Make things easier on yourself
Whenever you have a break from training, it’s always a good
idea to take a couple of steps back when you resume your
rou琀椀ne or start a new one. Performing shorter workouts
with lighter weights and less complicated moves gives your
muscles, nerves, and connec琀椀ve 琀椀ssues the 琀椀me they need to
gain strength so that you avoid injury.
Focus on form
Rather than just powering through, slow things down so that
you can feel the movement and remind yourself how the
exercise should feel. All good quality movement looks and
feels smooth and controlled.
Set goals
Whether you choose to use a notebook, an app on your
phone, or a document on your computer, record your goals
so your workouts have shape and direc琀椀on. Following
the SMART formula is a good idea: Speci昀椀c, Measurable,
Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound.
